Contributing to IdentifyLife

IdentifyLife provides a means for builders of interactive identification keys to share character lists and other key identification resources for particular groups of organisms. Sharing character lists and other key data makes key-building more efficient, and encourages standardisation which can allow keys to be combined and compared.

If you have created a key, we encourage you to contribute your key to IdentifyLife, so that other key authors can share your key's characters. To find out more about the advantages of this, read the IdentifyLife topic "I'm building a key; How can IdentifyLife help?"

To contribute your key, click through IdentifyLife's LifeBrowser to find the group of organisms in your key (you may add nodes to the LifeBrowser if your group is not yet included). Then, use the LifeBrowser's menu to upload your key.

Note that IdentifyLife currently accepts keys in SDD format only. If you have created your key using the Lucid3 Builder, you can export the key in SDD format using the Export menu, ready to upload to IdentifyLife.
